Borghese Real Estate and Urban Developers have started construction of 698 student houses at the Hoogeweg in Groningen

Borghese Real Estate and Urban Developers have developed a student complex of 74 meters high. The design of INBO Architecten is a new eye catcher for Groningen. In the façade is a painting by the famous painter H.N. Workman processed. This painter was part of the painters’ collective De Ploeg.

The U-shaped complex has a courtyard that connects to the Reitdiep. In the courtyard, sports fields have been created for the students and there is room for light catering. The location is close to the Zernike campus, where the university and Hanze Hogeschool are located and within walking distance of the shops in the Reitdiephaven district. The homes are 20 to 40 square meters. On the top floor there are two-level houses with a magnificent view over the city and surrounding walls. The building was designed to be earthquake-resistant in consultation with the NAM. Geveke Bouw has contributed its expertise on earthquake-resistant building and is responsible for the realization.

The complex is expected to open its doors in early 2020.
